In short

Hosting and delivery (Cloudflare Pages)

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and delivered through Cloudflare’s network. Cloudflare processes the connection data technically required for this, above all your IP address and request routing data, to deliver the site and protect it against attacks. Cloudflare processes these data on my behalf.

I do not see any logs containing IP addresses; retention of request logs is switched off by default at Cloudflare. Cloudflare does not state a fixed period for how long it keeps connection data internally, only “a limited period of time”. Fonts and images are on the same server; nothing is loaded from other third-party servers.

Visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

To see how many visits the site receives and how fast it loads, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. When you open a page, your browser sends a small measurement to Cloudflare: the page viewed (without anything after the “?” in the address), the referring page (referrer), country, device type, browser, operating system and loading times.

Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies, uses no browser storage and, according to Cloudflare, does not “fingerprint” visitors via IP address or user agent; visitors are not tracked across different websites. I only see aggregated figures. Cloudflare keeps the complete measurement data for 7 days and then retains only a sample of about 10%.

Recipients and disclosure abroad

The recipient is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. The data are processed mainly in the USA, partly also in the EU. Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; since 15 September 2024 the USA has been recognised by Switzerland as providing adequate data protection for companies certified in this way. In addition, Cloudflare’s data processing addendum with standard contractual clauses applies, which expressly covers Switzerland.

Cloudflare’s data protection contact: dpo@cloudflare.com. In Switzerland, Cloudflare is represented by Cloudflare Switzerland GmbH in Zug.

Storage in your browser

Your quiz progress and your choice between light and dark display are kept in your browser’s storage (localStorage). This information never leaves your device and is not sent to me; you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Partner links

Some pages recommend books with a link to Amazon. This site loads nothing from Amazon for this. Only when you click such a link do you go to Amazon, where Amazon’s privacy policy applies. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. The price stays the same for you.

Supporting the project

The bank details for ‘Support this project’ are loaded only once you click the button. With a bank transfer, the operator learns what your bank passes on (usually name, address and message). If you choose PayPal, PayPal processes your data under its own privacy policy; this site receives no card details.

External links

Links to Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and other websites lead to third-party sites, where their privacy policies apply. This site loads nothing from them.

Contact by e-mail

If you write to me (info@horuspedia.com), I use your details only to answer your message and delete it once it is no longer needed. The mailbox is operated by Infomaniak in Switzerland.

Your rights

You can ask at any time whether and which personal data about you are processed (Art. 25 FADP), and have incorrect data corrected or data deleted. Information is generally free of charge and provided within 30 days. Under the conditions of Art. 28 FADP you can also request a copy of your data. An informal message to info@horuspedia.com is enough. For data held only by Cloudflare, I will forward your request. You can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch).
