Amenhotep III is listed in the king list under ‘18th Dynasty’ and so belongs to this period: New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BC). Reign: 1390–1353 (1388–1351/50) BC. The figures in brackets give the alternative dating by the Egyptologist Jürgen von Beckerath. The throne name is Neb-maat-Re.
What is known about Amenhotep III
Amenhotep III maintained diplomatic relations with Mitanni and undertook campaigns in Nubia. His building activity was immense: the main part of Luxor Temple, for example, is his work, as is his mortuary temple in western Thebes, of which the famous Colossi of Memnon are the only remains today.

The period: New Kingdom
Egypt becomes a great power with a sphere of influence stretching from Sudan to Syria. The vast temples of Karnak and Luxor and the tombs in the Valley of the Kings date from this period.
