Ramesses X is listed in the king list under ‘20th Dynasty’ and so belongs to this period: New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BC). Reign: 1109–1105 (1107/03–1103/1099) BC. The figures in brackets give the alternative dating by the Egyptologist Jürgen von Beckerath. The throne name is Kheper-maat-Re-setep-en-Re.

The period: New Kingdom
Egypt becomes a great power with a sphere of influence stretching from Sudan to Syria. The vast temples of Karnak and Luxor and the tombs in the Valley of the Kings date from this period.
- c. 1250 BCRock temples of Abu Simbel. In 1964–1968 they were cut into blocks and moved to safety from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
