What is known about Takelot II
He installed his son Osorkon as High Priest at Thebes, which led to a confrontation with Harsiese II. Takelot II came to power as co-regent in the 23rd regnal year of Osorkon II, around 856/855 BC.

The period: Third Intermediate Period
The realm breaks up into several spheres of power: kings of Libyan descent in the Nile Delta, the High Priests of Amun in Thebes and finally the kings of Kush from what is now Sudan.
